Buckwheat is naturally gluten-free. Trouw b.v. processes only buckwheat. That is one of the reasons why we can essentially rule out any prior gluten contamination of our products.

At Trouw b.v. it is only after thorough cleansing of the raw buckwheat (raw material) that the product is dehulled (i.e. removal of the hard shell). During this process, we make sure that valuable nutritional substances of buckwheat are retained as much as possible.

Roasted buckwheat has a diameter between approx 3 and 5mm, with a triangular shape. The colour of the surface ranges from light brown to beige. Since the roasted buckwheat is made purely from whole hulled buckwheat and is carefully roasted at a low temperature, all essential and valuable nutritional properties of the buckwheat remain intact. Trouw ‘Kasha’ has a light, roasted (nutty) taste and is ideally suited as an ingredient in muesli and the like.
